Baja Checklist — Plant Names and Synonyms

The Annotated Checklist of the Vascular Plants of Baja California, Mexico, published in 2016 by the San Diego Natural History Museum, is the first comprehenisve checklist for the Baja California peninsula since Wiggins in 1980. The checklist is the result of extensive research through multiple collections, including the SDNHM and the two Baja California herbaria, as well as a thorough review of the literature. This page provides a tool to check a plant name in two ways:
• A full name, such as Sambucus nigra subsp. caerulea can be searched to determine its status. The page will report if the name is current and show any synonyms for that name. In this box use "var.", "ssp.", or "subsp." for infrarank, and the multiplication symbol × (Alt 0125) for hybrid names.
• Search a genus name to find its role in either current names or synonyms.
In either case, enter the name in question, using either the full name text box or the Genus name text box. Click the button by the text box.
